12 Shots of Christmas

About 200 people showed up, a little less than we had hoped. (we were hoping for 300) but still managed to raise about $8000 dollars. Not terrible considering it was Sweaty's first attempt at doing some good for the world :)

We are going to have a cocktail party to introduce everyone to the charity that this year's 12shots will support.

I dropped by the bar across the street to judge capacity/interest, and talked to the bartender. He also happens to be the owner's son, and he said their "license doesn't allow them to shut the bar down". So they can't do a private party. He also didn't appear interested in even talking about it, so the license issue may be moot.

Unfortunate.

I've been looking around, but there don't seem to be any good alternatives that are close to my place. The location hunt is back on.

Just found out ... Since Motorola has a matching grant program they will match my donation (which in this case = expenses) to 12 shots (up to $5k a year). Other companies may have this also.

Had lunch with Jon and Mike today, and it seems like there's sufficient momentum behind the reincarnated 12 Shots that it's going to happen. And, because this is a new 12 Shots for a new century, naturally, we have to have a blog.

Well, we don't have to have it, but it could make life easier. Or maybe I just think that blogging is cool. But in any case it's not a bad idea to have a common place we can post info about planning and locations and whatnot.

So, the 12 Shots blog is born...

At lunch today, the idea of making 12 Shots a black tie event was tossed around. Of course, if it's black tie, it can't just be a party, it has to be a ball. A Sweaty Ball. You see where this is going.

You just can't escape your roots.
